India’s top seller in the compact sedan segment, Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire has all the bells and whistles along with brilliant driving dynamics to offer to its buyers. But anything gets boring after a few years, even the best of all. Dzire has been in the market for quite some time now and needed some real modifications apart from the generation leap a couple of years back. And so, a face-lifted Swift Dzire was released in February 2015. Here is an attempt to find out what makes the new Dzire more appealing than the earlier model.

A new chrome grille with lower air-dam, revised body coloured bumper, restyled and larger smoked headlamps, modern LED day time running lights and chrome lined fog lamp housing sum up the changes on the front side. The sedan can be recognised even from a distance due to this new chrome grille. Although the rear proportion is slightly reduced, the new tail lamps and chrome finished boot lid lends the sedan a more mature look. New design alloy wheels and power folding ORVMs with turn indicators makes the side profile look sporty.

Talking about the interior changes, the sedan gets alight coloured cabin with faux wood stripped front doors and also a two tone dash. The seats are more comfortable and are wrapped in a new fabric. Dzire is now more feature rich with additions likethe push button start, cruise control, keyless entry with engine starter button, auto-up function for the driver’s side power window, climate control, reverse parking sensors and a remote boot lid opener. Safety features include ABS, brake assist, front dual SRS airbags, an engine drag control system and EBD.

Maruti has introduced the facelift model as being more fuel efficient than ever. In fact it is claiming to be the most fuel efficient car in its segment. And truly enough, the fuel efficiency figures have indeed gone up to the tune of13 per cent for the diesel model, taking the ARAI figures up from 23.4 kmpl to 26.59 kmpl. The petrol motor also sees a rise in fuel efficiency of 9 per cent, taking the ARAI figures from 19.1 kmpl to 20.85 kmpl. These improved figures are a result of changes to the engine hardware to improve thermal efficiency, reduce frictional losses and changes in engine calibration. Engine options for the 2015 Dzire continue to be the 1.3-litre diesel engine that makes 75 PS and a  1.2-litre K-series VVT petrol unit that now makes 84.3 PS. A 5-speed gearbox comes standard on both units, while a 4-speed automatic gearbox is available with the petrol.

Available in new colours, the Maruti Dzire facelift is priced at Rs 5.07-7.81 lakhs.
